JARABE MEXICANO

"The musicians from Jarabe Mexicano were FANTASTIC. The residency went smoothly, and every single event was nothing short of a success. All students of any age were engaged, enthusiastic, and had fantastic questions. We had multiple groups raise their hands and ask to dance! Their final performance was a joy. We only had good feedback, with more requests for various styles of music. We also saw a different audience than past shows."

"They were absolutely fantastic!  The talent, energy, kindness…the community loved them as did the kids and teachers at the school." ~Kim Krueger, Artistic Director, Whitefish Theatre Company

FIESTA EN FAMILIA:

Jarabe Mexicano's family fiesta includes music and personal stories that highlight what it's like to grow up on the US-Mexico border. From romantic ballads fit for a serenade to exuberant dance songs that run the gamut between folk and contemporary, this party is worth celebrating year-round!

"Another GREAT concert at the Basalt Regional Library!!!  It would take a long time to enumerate the enthusiastic comments that patrons have shared with me!  Your ability to capture the audience is amazing......it’s an art in itself.  Add to that your individual reservoirs of talent, and you have the formula for a successful concert!   Thank you for sharing  your passion for music with our community. The AMFS staff members expressed appreciation for your skillful conducting of a very successful workshop.  Your educational approach to music did not go unnoticed.  When children walk out of the room saying,’that was fun!’, you know you succeeded in sharing music with them."

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS: "CELEBRATION OF LIFE":

A BORDEÑO SOUL CHRISTMAS:

Make it a “Feliz Navidad” as Jarabe Mexicano brings their fun-loving exuberance to the stage! Standout vocalists Tavo Alcoser, Kevin Lomes, and Eddy Valencia combine with the dynamic stylings of guitarist Esteban Smith and Danny Brito on drums. Bilingual songs and stories from both sides of the border will entertain you! Sing along to classics made famous by Bing Crosby, Brenda Lee, Elvis, José Alfredo Jiménez, and Tony Camargo. Enjoy Jarabe’s breathtaking Spanish rendition of Schubert’s “Ave Maria” in honor of Mexico’s Lady of Guadalupe. You won’t want to miss“A Bordeño Soul Christmas!”

Jarabe Mexicano captures the nostalgic spirit of their border roots with their brand of "Bordeño-Soul," which honors the musical tastes and cultural influences of its members. Jarabe, which translates to 'concoction,' highlights the eclectic mix of genres they perform ranging from Mexican Folk, Rock & Roll, and Norteño/Tex-Mex to Latin Rock, Trio Romántico, and popular Cumbia. Their traditional Mariachi string instruments and Norteño-inspired drums complement dramatic vocals in English, Spanish, and Spanglish, and shows how this multi-generational ensemble embraces change while still honoring the past.

As educators, cultural ambassadors and advocates for the arts, the Vilar Performing Arts Center raves that Jarabe Mexicano is “thought-provoking, heartfelt, and engaging." Both their “Fiesta En Familia” concerts and educational outreach program “Día de los Muertos: A Celebration of Life” aim to create a deeper and more inclusive sense of family and community, with a special commitment to underserved groups. Jarabe has also shared the stage with Louie Pérez of Los Lobos and opened for internationally renowned acts Gaby Moreno and La Santa Cecilia. The band is currently working on their upcoming third album, while their EP "Semillas" as well as their self-titled album "Jarabe Mexicano'' can be found on all streaming digital platforms.
